Getting Started with Sweet Alchemy

Sweet Alchemy is an online slot game developed by Play'n GO. The game features 5 reels and is played on a cascading 5x5 grid. Bets can be set between £0.10 and £5.00 per round. All payouts and features are clearly explained within the paytable and game rules found in the game.

Game Structure and How Wins Are Formed

This slot uses a cluster mechanic rather than traditional paylines. Wins are created when four or more matching symbols connect either horizontally or vertically. Winning symbols disappear, making way for new symbols to cascade into their place. Cascades continue as long as new winning combinations are formed during the round. At the end of a game round, all wins – including those from features and bonus games – are combined and paid together.

Exploring the Sugar Rush Meter

Each winning symbol adds progress to the Sugar Rush Meter on the side of the grid. When enough symbols are collected in a single round, special Wild symbols are triggered as follows:

  • 6 symbols: 2 Regular Wilds replace any two symbols on the grid, helping to complete more wins.
  • 13 symbols: 2 Striped Wilds are added. Besides making wins, these Wilds also remove every symbol in their row or column. The direction depends on the orientation of the Wild.
  • 25 symbols: 2 Dotted Wilds are placed, and these will remove all instances of a randomly chosen symbol type across the grid, as well as assist with wins.
  • 38 symbols: Triggers the Mix the Elixir Free Round at the end of the current round. Extra Candy Spells can be collected for every 3 additional symbols, up to a maximum of 7 spells.

The Mix the Elixir Free Round

Once unlocked, the Mix the Elixir Free Round takes place on a larger 9x9 grid, using the same cascading mechanic. After all possible wins and cascades are finished, each Candy Spell (earned through the Sugar Rush Meter) plays out in turn, potentially leading to further wins. The Candy Spells can be:

  • Mixed Candy: Symbols on the grid are shuffled to create new chances to win.
  • Sweet Surprise: 7 to 12 Wild symbols appear in random positions. Even if not part of a win, their removal effect is activated.
  • Sugar Bombs: 7 to 15 ordinary symbols are selected at random and removed from the grid.

The aim during the free round is to complete the collection challenge. For this, you need to collect a certain number of specific low and high pay symbols by including them in winning combinations. Wilds do not count towards these collections. The collection progress is structured in three levels:

  • Level 1: Collect 16 of a certain low pay symbol and 6 of a certain high pay symbol to trigger the Elixir of Power Bonus.
  • Level 2: Collect 21 low pay and 11 high pay symbols to improve bonus rewards.
  • Level 3: Collect 26 low pay and 16 high pay symbols, further increasing bonus rewards.

The Elixir of Power Bonus

At the conclusion of the free round, the Elixir of Power Bonus is awarded if you completed a collection. You will be invited to pick chocolate squares, revealing magic elixirs. Find three matching elixirs to win one of the following prizes, depending on the collection level reached:

  • Level 1: 2x Total Bet, 3x Total Bet, 5x Total Bet, 2x Total Win, or 3x Total Win
  • Level 2: 3x Total Bet, 5x Total Bet, 10x Total Bet, 3x Total Win, or 5x Total Win
  • Level 3: 5x Total Bet, 10x Total Bet, 3x Total Win, 5x Total Win, or 10x Total Win

Progressing on the Map and Treasure Chests

Completing the Free Round collection will move you forward on the Map. For every three levels progressed, a treasure chest is unlocked, awarding a cash prize. The value of the Treasure Chest is 15% of your main game winnings since the previous chest. The Map can be viewed anytime by clicking the Treasure Chest symbol in the main game.

How to Adjust Your Bet and Play

  • To change your bet, use the plus and minus buttons or select from the available bet amounts.
  • Access the paytable to see symbol values and feature details.
  • Start each round by clicking the START button. Symbols that land will determine any potential wins, as described in the paytable.

Game Integrity and Return to Player (RTP)

If a game round is interrupted, the game state and any placed bets are saved. You can continue from where you left off when you reopen the game. After 90 days, unresolved bets from incomplete rounds will become void. Malfunction will void all pays and plays. The RTP is available within the game.
