How to Play BlackJack in Land Based Casinos

Blackjack is a classic casino game for today which is very popular with gamers worldwide. This land-based casino game is known for being the game that gives all players a realistic chance of having a positive outcome. This, of course, is only possible if you know what you're doing. Here is a quick and easy guide to help you succeed at Blackjack next time you head to a mobile casino.

Why land based?

For most players land based is their preferred option as it gives them a chance to socialise, meet like-minded people, and have fun. Land-based is also a lot more exciting in big cities like Las Vegas which is the entertainment capital of the world. With all of the sights and sounds from the casino, a buzzing atmosphere is created which can't be mimicked online.

How does blackjack begin?

A game of blackjack begins with a standard 52-card deck. The number of decks used in a game depends on the type of game being played. A lot of blackjack games use just one deck whereas some typically use 6 or 8 decks.

Both in free spins online casinos and offline more than one deck get shuffled together to give them a wider spread. The box the decks are held in is known as a shoe and allows the dealer to slide a single card at a time before dealing with all players around the table.

Blackjack card values

If you want to win, you need to understand the value of every card. These are:

  • Cards 2 - 10: worth their face value
  • Kings, Queens, Jacks: 10
  • Ace: 1 or 11

The aim of the game

There are 2 main aims for blackjack. The first aim is to beat the casino and you can achieve this by making sure you don't end up with a hand value higher than 21. The second aim is to make sure your scoring hand is higher than the house at the end of the round.

Blackjack rules

As well as deciding whether to hit or stand, there are also other rules which you need to understand with the first being double down. Double down is where you have the chance to double down on your bet. This move should only be played when you have very strong hands and it's a great tactic to use when you want those bigger payouts.

Another thing you can do is split pairs. This is where you have a pair of cards and you have the opportunity to split. This splits the pair to make 2 new hands which equal the same value. An additional card is then dealt. This move is best used on a pair of aces.

Blackjack also comes with a side bet. This is offered when the dealer is sitting on a 10 or more hand. This provides insurance for players against the dealer holding blackjack and can help protect from losses.

How blackjack wins are paid out

The best win you can make in a game of blackjack is having 2 cards that add up to 21. A hand is paid out with odds of 3:2. For instance, if you put a £10 bet on the table and got 21 then you would be awarded £15. To find out more about casino games, click here.
